Paki English.

That sign "Child Bear" was classic - could not stop laughing! Typical of Paki English. We had a lot of small pakistani traders in Muscat and some of the sign boards had you in splits. I always wanted to take pictures of them, but somehow never got down to it. Here are some that I remember:

1. Sign outside a shop selling automobile spare parts -

"Sale of Spear Parts".  Sounds like an ancient Roman shop selling spears and shields!

2. Sign outside a shop selling fertilizers -

     "Sale of Fartilizer" !

3. Sign outside a small shop (Famous Fine Arts) manufacturing signboards   -

"FFArts". This signboard was actually filmed and appeared on the British spoof "Not the 9 O'Clock news"

4. Sign on a bin ouside a supermarket -

"This area for cartoons only"     (they had reserved that bin for empty cartons!)

5. You won't believe the sign inside the same supermarket over the peanut counter -

    "Pee nuts" !!

6.  And another one outside their supermarket -

    "Ample parking in backside" !!

7. Then there were strange business names like -

"Daddy & Sons Trading"        &     "Rainy Clouds Trading"

8. The prize goes to a cafeteria by the name -

"The Generous Tourism Coffe Shop"   Wonder what they were trying to say ?

That's it for now. Chears and keep smyling!!!
